About Us

Cub Scout Pack 501 welcomes all boys and girls from Kindergarten through 5th grade in the Stone Oak community of San Antonio! Scouting with Pack 501 offers an exciting path for young children to make friends, build confidence, and develop essential life skills, all while having fun in a supportive environment. Our monthly meetings, from September through May, and additional summer events provide plenty of opportunities for adventure, learning, and growth.

Uniforms play a special role in fostering a sense of belonging and pride as Scouts earn and display achievements. We offer clear uniform guidelines so every Scout feels equipped and ready for all activities.

As part of the Alamo Area Council, Pack 501 benefits from a strong network of Scouting resources and events that enhance the experience for our Scouts and their families. Join us, and let’s embark on this incredible journey together!

Cub Scout Pack 501 began its journey in 2005, rooted in the close-knit communities of Stone Oak. Our story started with a group of young Scouts who were originally part of Pack 500 at Hardy Oak Elementary. When Wilderness Oak Elementary opened, the Scout family grew, splitting into two packs. With the guidance of Pack 500 and the support of Holy Trinity Catholic Church as our Charter Organization, Pack 501 received its Unit Charter from the Alamo Area Council, officially opening our doors in October 2005.

From the very beginning, Pack 501 has been a place where friendships are formed, skills are built, and young people discover their potential. Starting with just 26 Scouts, our pack quickly became a vibrant part of the community.

By 2007, we had more than doubled our membership, added new Tiger Dens, launched our own website, and received several awards, including the Centennial Quality Unit Award and the National Summertime Pack Award. It was a season of milestones, with popcorn sales exceeding $8,000 and Pack 501 Scouts actively engaging in community service and activities.

Our story is one of growth and achievement. With every passing year, our pack welcomed new members and leaders, fostering a sense of belonging and dedication. Our Scouts worked hard, earning badges like the Polar Bear Award and the Arrow of Light—the highest honor in Cub Scouting that signifies a Scout’s readiness to join a Boy Scout troop. Each Arrow of Light recipient embodies the commitment, knowledge, and skills that Scouting instills, and our pack is proud to have supported these Scouts on their journey.

As the community expanded with the opening of new schools, so did our pack. In 2012, Vineyard Ranch Elementary opened, marking another transition in our history. Though our membership briefly split, Pack 501 remained a strong, supportive presence for families in Stone Oak. That same year, we celebrated our first-ever Super Achiever Award, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Scouts.

Today, Cub Scout Pack 501 continues to be a beacon of opportunity and adventure for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We’re more than a pack; we’re a family. Through exciting activities, service projects, and the support of the Alamo Area Council, our Scouts learn leadership, responsibility, and the value of community. We’re now proudly sponsored by the American Legion Business and Professional Post 10, reflecting our ongoing commitment to serve and grow within our community. We invite families to join us on this journey and to see firsthand the magic of Scouting in the lives of young people.
