ABOUT OUR PACK

Cub Scout Pack 501 welcomes all boys and girls from Kindergarten through 5th grade in the Stone Oak community of San Antonio! We meet monthly during the school year at Wilderness Oak Elementary, providing an exciting path for young children to make friends, build confidence, and develop essential life skills, all while having fun in a supportive environment. Our monthly meetings, from September through May, along with additional summer events, offer plenty of opportunities for adventure, learning, and growth.

Uniforms play a special role in fostering a sense of belonging and pride as Scouts earn and display achievements. We offer clear uniform guidelines so every Scout feels equipped and ready for all activities.

As part of the Alamo Area Council, Pack 501 benefits from a strong network of Scouting resources and events that enhance the experience for our Scouts and their families. Join us, and let’s embark on this incredible journey together!

ABOUT OUR COUNCIL

The Alamo Area Council, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, is a local branch of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) serving a 13-county region in South Texas. These counties include Bexar, Atascosa, Bandera, Comal, Frio, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, La Salle, McMullen, Medina, and Wilson.

The council offers Scouting programs to over 17,000 youth and supports approximately 2,700 trained adult volunteers. Its mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

To support its programs, the Alamo Area Council manages three premier camps:

Bear Creek Scout Camp: Located in the Texas Hill Country, this camp offers facilities such as shooting ranges, a swimming pool, natural rock climbing, rappelling, an auto-belay climbing wall, zipline, and a COPE course.

McGimsey Scout Park: This park hosts various events throughout the year, including Cub Scout Day Camp during the summer.

Mays Family Scout Ranch: The newest addition, providing additional facilities and programs for Scouts.

The council is organized into several districts, each serving specific geographic areas and communities within the 13-county region. These districts facilitate local Scouting activities, events, and training.
