DESCRIPTION:Get ready to race! Pack 501’s annual Pinewood Derby is fast approaching\, and excitement is building! Join us on Saturday\, February 28\, 2026 for a day of friendly competition\, creativity\, and engineering as Scouts race their custom-designed cars down the track. \nSave time during morning check-in by signing up for the Pinewood Derby here. \nNeed help?  Attend our Pinewood Derby Workshop on February 1st\, 2025! \nEvent Schedule \n• 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Check-In – Arrive early to get your car inspected and make any final adjustments. \n• 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Race Time! – Cheer on our Scouts as they compete for speed and style on the track! \nKey Rules and Guidelines \nEach Scout is encouraged to bring their unique touch to the derby\, showcasing their creativity and skills in car design. Here are some essential rules to keep in mind: \n• Scout as Builder: Scouts should have significant involvement in designing\, building\, and finishing their cars\, making this a fun learning experience. \n• New Cars Only: Each car should be freshly built for this year’s race (though cars from previous years are welcome in the open division). \n• Axle and Wheel Specifications: Only official BSA wheels and axles can be used. They may be deburred and polished\, and axles can be adjusted as long as wheels don’t extend beyond the car’s front or back. \n• No Lubricant Except Dry Graphite: Only dry graphite is permitted to keep cars moving smoothly down the track. \n• Dimensions and Weight Requirements: Cars must weigh 5 ounces or less and meet specific length\, height\, and clearance guidelines to ensure a fair race. \nScouts\, this is your chance to shine! The Pinewood Derby is all about having fun\, unleashing your creativity\, and learning hands-on skills that will last a lifetime. Whether you’re building a sleek speedster or a stylish showstopper\, bring your best design and racing spirit to the track on February 22nd.
